One month to Nov. 3, 2026…
One month to Election Day. VOTE.GOV if you need information about your state…. For Minnesota, the information is HERE. For my Senate District HERE. I voted on October 2. Very normal process. Only a longer ballot – more offices to elect. I plan to be ‘radio silent’ politically until after the election Nov. 3.

POSTNOTE: My general political position published Sep 18 is here.
COMMENTS;
from Dick: I elected to not publish any opinion other than as stated above except to my own city group, to which I sent my position earlier this week, which Norm replyed to below. For anyone who might be interested, I’m including what I sent to the smaller list below Norm’s comment.

I agree that city officials should be non-partisan regardless of what party they affiliate with and support on their own. Some folks started a city DFL organization here is Roseville to provide alternative candidates to what they felt were too Republican on the city council and in the mayor’s office. I attended their organizing meeting but had no interest in being a part of the new organization and never was. I do not want some DFLer to be elected to our city council sole because he pr she is a Democrat as most of the issues are non-partisan that the city government has to deal with. I want someone in there who seems to understand that and acts accordingly. Granted, I may well be politically naive as all heck, but I do not want our city officials elected strictly on a partisan basis.
Norm’s response, above, is to the following, which I sent to a sublist about local issues. Norm is not a resident of my town, but a longtime friend and activist in another suburb. While we are of the same party, we ‘cross swords’ on occasion, but it doesn’t interfere with the friendship. Except for names of candidates, everything I said to Norm and the others is below:
“There are many offices and a couple of issues and many candidates on the ballot [in my city]. Check before going to the polls. My apologies in advance for any errors. Let me know and I’ll pass along. These comments as well as the blog posts, represent my personal opinions.
There are two candidates for Mayor: I favor [one], supported by SD47 DFL [Democrats], who I’ve watched participate over the months at Coffee Conversation [an occasional informal gatherings open to anyone which I almost always attend]. Like most candidates [my preferred candidate] has a website. Take a look. Incumbent mayor ___ is the other candidate for Mayor.
All local government candidates are listed as non-partisan, as they have always been. This is a topic for serious later discussion.
The most confusing election category for me is Woodbury City Government.
There are ten candidates for two at large City Council seats. SD47 DFL supports [one candidate].
Here are the Council candidates listed in the order they appear on my ballot: [here listed are all ten names].
All but two have websites, reachable through the state weblink.
I applaud every candidate who is willing to stand for public office. The work of elected officials is hard and often thankless, and involves representing everyone, regardless of status or party. They all deserve thanks for their willingness to serve.
That is a good reminder: it is service to the community to even run for an elected office, and those willing to run deserve our thanks.
We won’t agree with every position taken by a given candidate. We should check them out!
